Zumba at J. Albert Boro (In Person & Remote)

  • Join this fun fitness class designed for older adults with lively music! Come ready to sweat and leave feeling stronger. The class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility, and balance.

Tai Chi for Falls Prevention (In Person)

      • Tuesdays & Thursdays | 10 AM – 11 AM | 999 Third Street, San Rafael
      • Did you know that recent research proves Tai Chi’s superiority in reducing high blood pressure compared to brisk walking or stair climbing? Experience remarkable benefits with this ancient martial art—improved balance, flexibility, and heart health.
      • This program consists of two 1hr weekly sessions for 8 consecutive weeks. Drop ins are welcome at any time during the 8-week series.

Talking Tech Intermediate (In Person)

  • Thursday | 10 AM – 12 PM | 999 Third Street, San Rafael
  • Need a refresher for using your iPhone or iPad? Are you confused about iCloud? Want to learn how to use Calendar? Learn how to take and organize Photos? If you understand some basics of your device and are ready to see what else it can do, this is the course for you! A perfect sequel to the “Basics” class.  We’ll show you how to find and install new apps, and update, delete and organize your apps for easy access. You’ll learn how to find out what version of the iOS you are using and when/how to upgrade. You must commit to attend all 4 classes.
  • Prerequisites: completion of the Basics course or at least one year of experience using an iPhone or iPad. Should have experience using email, texting and Safari.

Painting with Debra – Acrylics (Remote)

  • Thursdays | 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • In Debra’s class, you will learn about the materials and techniques of painting with acrylics. Debra will cover color mixing, composition, and creating dynamic and well-crafted paintings. Previous experience is not required.

  • Recommended Materials for Painting with Acrylics:
    • Materials are available at Rileystreet Art Supply on 4th St. in San Rafael. Tell them you’re taking Debra Maddox’s class at Vivalon to receive a 10% discount. Also, some materials may be obtained at Michaels, DickBlick.com, Amazon or Perry’s in San Anselmo.
    • Brushes – Princeton Dakota filberts (#2 and #4) and Princeton Dakota bright (#8)
    • Watercolor or acrylics paper (cheaper brands are okay)
    • Liquitex extender/blender medium to slow drying time
    • Acrylic Paint (brand recommendations: Liquitex Acrylics or Golden Open Acrylics – Golden Open is more expensive, but higher quality). You can start with a Liquitex starter set, or purchase the following colors:
      • White – buy the large size Liquitex Basics
      • Black
      • Paynes Grey
      • Cad Yellow
      • Naples Yellow
      • Cad Red
      • Alizarin Crimson
      • Cerulean Blue
      • Ultramarine Blue
      • Violet
      • Burnt Umber
      • Burnt Sienna
    • Palette: Disposable paper palettes or paper plates are a good start. There is also the “Sta-Wet” paint storage system to keep your paints moist from week to week.

Jewelry Making 2 (In Person)

  • Thursdays | 1:30 AM – 3:30 PM | 999 Third Street, San Rafael
  • Nurture the creative artist inside of you. Learn a variety of skills for making necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Tools and supplies will be provided. You must take Jewelry 1 prior to taking this class. These classes are currently full, but you can call 415-456-9062 to be added to our waitlist for the next sessions.
