Volunteer Spotlight – Christy Hayes
Meet Christy Hayes, Vivalon’s volunteer nail technician. Christy opened her own salon in 1979, the first in Mill Valley. After retiring, she wanted to give back to the community, so she called Vivalon 8 years ago, offering her services as a nail technician and providing complimentary nail appointments. For your free nail appointment, come by the Healthy Aging Center and book your appointment. Christy is here every Tuesday from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering at Vivalon?
The people I meet; gives me a good feeling and a smile on my face.
Who is your hero?
My father because he can do anything. He was very hands-on. He remodeled the home in the 1950s.
What is your favorite movie as a child?
Cinderella, I was a very girly girl who liked to dress up and enjoyed those kinds of prince stories.
What is your favorite family vacation?
My favorite family vacation was going to Hawaii. We went a lot as a kid. My favorite island is Maui.
What would you change about yourself if you could?
I talk too much, but I am a good listener. I would change my Nissan Rouge into a Porsche or Aston Martin.
What makes you unique?
I have a strong passion for animals. I have had 17 dogs in my life.
What are some random fun facts about you?
I am silly and competitive. I want to learn how to play pickle ball. I am a foodie. I enjoy eating at restaurants.
What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at?
I want to learn how to be a race car driver. After that, I would like to learn how to design clothes and shoes, but first, I would need to learn how to sew.
What is your favorite place on earth?
I watched water runoff in the Alaskan glaciers, and it was crystal clear. It was the best water I have ever tasted.
Who are the special people in your life?
My 4 grandsons are growing up to be great men. My 24-year-old grandson just had a baby girl, and she has brought so much joy into his life and mine.
Who is your favorite celebrity?
Marilyn Monroe
Would you rather have a private jet to take you anywhere you want or your dream home?
I would pick a private jet because I wouldn’t be home. I would be traveling the world.
