Staff Spotlight – Nicole Levintow
In January 2020 Nicole joined Vivalon’s Human Resources team and had her first opportunity to work with Vivalon’s volunteers. In September this year, Nicole was promoted to Human Resources Supervisor. Her new responsibilities include Vivalon’s volunteer program, and she is excited to have the chance to reconnect with all of you and enhance our volunteer efforts.
Nicole grew up in Novato and earned her bachelor’s degree at UC Santa Cruz. After graduation, she worked for a study-abroad program in Florence, Italy where she led tours of the city and made sure students had what they needed for their time there. Nicole grew up speaking Italian, thanks to her parents, and was happy to be near her family and friends who still live there. In 2019, Nicole’s grandmother in Kentfield started to need more support so she made the decision to move back to Marin. She was looking for resources to help her grandmother, and found that not only was Vivalon exactly what she was looking for – we were hiring! She was eager to apply, and was hired as our Human Resources Administrative Assistant. Since then, she has also volunteered for CarePool, supported the Brown Bag Pantry during Covid, and has delivered meals for Operation Thanksgiving.
In her free time, Nicole enjoys rock climbing, riding her bike, wilderness backpacking, and learning languages. She’s currently taking a French language class at College of Marin and likes practicing with her francophone friends. She hopes to hike someday in the high Pyrenees in France. Last year, she hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mexico-California border up to Washington, camping all along the way. It brought many physical and mental challenges, but she’s grateful to have experienced it all. She also volunteers at a farm animal sanctuary and loves taking care of the animals and garden. She strives to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her, human and non-human.
