Current Volunteer Opportunities

Meals on Wheels and Nourish Drivers

We are in search of dedicated volunteer drivers for our Meals on Wheels and Nourish programs to provide essential meal deliveries to homebound older adults and individuals facing chronic health challenges.

 

We have both morning (9:00 am to 12:00 pm) and afternoon (1:00 pm to 4:00 pm) routes available on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays, each requiring approximately 3 hours of your time.

 

Mileage reimbursement is available to support your commitment to making a positive impact in our community.

 

Join us in ensuring that nutritious meals reach those in need, contributing to their well-being and fostering a sense of care and connection.

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old and have had your license for a minimum of two years.

A valid California Driver’s License and a clear DMV report are needed, as well as a reliable vehicle and proof of auto insurance.

CarePool Drivers

CarePool driver volunteers provide free rides for older adults to crucial medical appointments, pharmacy visits, and grocery shopping, using their own vehicles.

Choose from flexible shifts Monday – Friday, with three-hour blocks available:

  • 8:00 am to 11:00 am
  • 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Each round trip typically takes 2–3 hours, so we kindly request a minimum commitment of one three-hour shift per week. Your time can make a significant difference in someone’s life!

Requirements: A valid California Driver’s License, a clean DMV report, a reliable vehicle, and proof of auto insurance are needed.

A Matter of Balance (AMoB) Volunteer Instructor

We are currently seeking dedicated volunteer instructors for our A Matter of Balance (AMoB) classes. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative two-hour sessions once a week over the course of eight weeks.

 

A Matter of Balance is designed to empower older adults in overcoming the fear of falling. As an instructor, you will play a crucial role in promoting increased activity levels, advocating for small modifications to minimize fall risks at home, and imparting valuable knowledge on effective exercises to enhance strength and balance.

 

Join us in making a positive impact on the well-being of our community’s older adults!

A Matter of Balance Instructors have specific schedules for the 8-week class:

  • 8 hours of training (prior to first class)
  • 16 hours of classroom instruction (8 weeks, once per month for 2 hours)

Brown Bag Pantry

Every year, Marin residents pick up 135,000 pounds of healthy groceries free of charge through our Brown Bag Pantry. In this role you will be serving a vulnerable part of our community who most likely deal with food insecurities. You play an important role in making them feel welcomed, engaged, and comfortable.

Weekly on Fridays, 9:30 am- 12:00 pm

Bingocize Volunteer Instructor

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteer instructors to take the lead in our Bingocize classes.

 

Bingocize is a unique health promotion program that blends the joy of bingo with fall prevention exercises. As a volunteer instructor, you will contribute to empowering older adults by guiding them through gentle seated and standing exercises, games of bingo, and tips to prevent falls.

 

Join us in making a positive impact on the well-being of our community’s older adults through this evidenc-based, falls prevention program!

Bingosize Instructors have specific schedules for the 10 week class:

  • 1-Hour of training (prior to the first class)
  • 20 hours of classroom instruction (10 weeks, twice per week for one hour) 

Vivalon Café

Join our Cafe Volunteer team and help us provide a welcoming environment and serve delicious and Nutritious meals to the community we serve.

Cashier

  • The cashier operates the point of sale system, using an ipad tablet and square card reader. This position requires either standing or sitting at the front counter. Being able to handle cash and counting is essential.


Server

  • Cafe Servers provide a crucial link between kitchen staff and clients. You will assist people to their tables and serve them a meal. This position includes bussing tables and helping with cleaning dishes as well as learning important food safety skills. 
We ask all volunteers to wear non-slip or slip resistant shoes and complete and pass an online food safety course.

Shifts Available:

  • Monday-Friday, 10:30am – 2:00pm
  • We request that you commit to one shift per week for the full duration of the shift.

Photo Release

From time to time, our Marketing department may take photos and videos to help us promote Vivalon and our various activities. Examples of how these photos and videos may be used include, but are not limited to: print ads, digital ads, newsletters, emails, website pages, letters, brochures, pamphlets, reports, presentations, video appeals.


I consent to the unrestricted use, by Vivalon (and those acting with its permission and authority), of any and all photographs/videos taken, in whole or in part, unlimited use, for all purposes, in any form or medium, including, without limitation, its use through or on any electronic media, including the Internet.


I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product or products or the advertising copy or printed matter that may be used with the finished photographs/videos.


Further, I relinquish all rights, titles and interests I may have in the finished photographs/videos and reproduction to any responsible business firm or publication. It is understood that Vivalon retains copyright of images at all times under the expressed understanding and agreement that Vivalon shall have exclusive reproduction rights to the images/videos.


I hereby release Vivalon from any and all claims in connection with the photographs/videos, including any and all claims of libel.


Physical Activity Release of Liability

I UNDERSTAND THAT IF I AM INJURED IN THE COURSE OF THE PROJECT, I AM COVERED BY Vivalon's AD&D-TRAVEL ACCIDENT PROGRAM. Coverage is afforded provided that


1.) I am acting at Vivalon's direction and within the scope of my duties as a volunteer for Vivalon;


2.) The accident takes place during the policy period;


3.) The expenses that are incurred are reported within one year of the date of the accident. Payments will be made regardless of fault (not to exceed the applicable limit of insurance) and include reasonable expenses for:

- First aid administered at the time of an accident;

- Necessary medical, surgical, X-ray and dental services, including prosthetic devices; and

- Necessary ambulance, hospital and professional nursing and funeral services.


Volunteer Nondisclosure and Confidentiality Agreement

I acknowledge that during the course of my volunteer role with Vivalon I will have access to certain information not generally known to the public.


I understand that this information is Confidential Information and agree that it is not to be shared at any time. I understand the need to safeguard, in any format including, but not limited to, database records, email, any other electronic format, hard copy, voicemail or conversation.


I understand that participant records are protected under confidentiality regulations and cannot be disclosed without written consent of the participant, as stated in HIPAA.


1. All Confidential Information provided to or generated by me, both hard-copy and electronic, is highly confidential. It is not to be discussed with anyone not conducting Vivalon business.


2. I agree to protect all Confidential Information when in use, storing it properly when not in use, and discussing it only with those who have a legitimate business need to know.


3. I agree to treat Confidential Information with care during my volunteer role with Vivalon.


4. I will not give data to persons not authorized to access it. I understand that Vivalon expressly forbids the disclosure of private data or the distribution of such data in any medium, except as required by my volunteer duties and responsibilities.


5. I understand that if I am found compromising information that I may be released in my volunteer role with the organization.


Motor Vehicle Record Release

If I am applying to volunteer, which will involve driving my own vehicle or a company vehicle on behalf of Vivalon, I hereby authorize Vivalon’s insurance company and/or Heffernan Insurance Brokers to be in possession of my driver’s license number, obtain the necessary motor vehicle records and authorize them to send a copy of my Motor Vehicle Record to Vivalon.
