Embark on a virtual adventure with Wowzitude, Vivalon’s innovative program that brings the world to your doorstep!
More than sightseeing or pre-recorded tours, this live, interactive experience connects you with the culture, history, and charm of destinations across the globe. Unlike traditional travel shows, Wowzitude offers an experience akin to hiring a local guide for a short walking tour through a highlighted travel destination.
When Jeanne Wiltin, a retired delivery room nurse, first heard about Wowzitude, she was skeptical. “I’ve traveled extensively, and virtual tours didn’t seem appealing,” she shared. “But I decided to give it a try, and I ended up loving it!” Her experience underscores the program’s ability to engage even seasoned travelers.
Every Tuesday at 11 am, participants meet at the Healthy Aging Campus for these virtual journeys. Jeanne enjoys the interactive aspect: “I love being able to text the tour guide during the tour. It’s like having a personal guide reveal the hidden gems of a city!” Jeanne recalled a tour where unexpected police barricades led to a fascinating discussion about local government. Group discussions after the tours create a lively, social atmosphere. “The discussions are a highlight for me,” Jeanne added. “It’s wonderful to hear different perspectives and share thoughts about the tour.”
Another participant, Joe Cillo, agrees. “Wowzitude isn’t just about sightseeing; it’s about connecting with the world and each other. It’s like traveling without leaving your seat,” he said. Joe also values the diverse destinations, from New York City and Jerusalem’s bustling streets to Knaresborough’s quaint lanes and Assisi’s timeless beauty.
Susan Black, Wowzitude’s founder and CEO, is central to the program’s success. Her boundless energy and passion for travel bring every session to life. “Susan is a trip all by herself,” Jeanne joked. “Her enthusiasm is contagious, making each session feel like a real adventure.”
Wowzitude’s appeal isn’t limited to Vivalon. Over 7,000 participants worldwide join each session. For those who prefer to participate from home, tour recordings are provided for both the Tuesday and Thursday weekly tours.
Vivalon adds thoughtful touches to enhance the experience, such as sampling regional foods. Whether it’s a Krakow pastry or a Florence sweet, these extra touches make the tours more immersive.
Jeanne encourages others to try Wowzitude: “It’s an hour of fun, learning, and connection. You never know what you’ll discover or who you’ll meet. It’s a wonderful way to keep the spirit of adventure alive.”
Joe concurs. “Whether revisiting a beloved city or discovering a hidden gem, Wowzitude offers a meaningful and enjoyable experience.”
