Personal Caregiver Basics: Caring for Yourself and Those You Love

Wednesdays | February 4 & 11 | 1:00 pm–3:00 pm

Caring for a loved one—and caring for yourself in the process—can feel overwhelming without the right tools and guidance. Personal Caregiver Basics is a new two-part workshop designed to introduce foundational caregiving skills for individuals supporting family members, friends, or preparing for future caregiving roles. Led by a Nursing Professor and a Bilingual Career and Technical Education (CTE) Instructor from Dominican University, this in-person pilot workshop offers practical, hands-on learning in a supportive environment, with Spanish language support available. Participants will explore what it means to be a home care aide, learn strategies for home safety and fall prevention, and gain insight into personal care essentials such as bathing, hygiene, dignity, and infection control.
