Honoring Our 2025 Award Recipients
Vivalon Transformational
Philanthropist Award
Dennis and Susan Gilardi
Susan and Dennis Gilardi are longtime Marin civic leaders whose philanthropy has strengthened healthcare, housing, education, the arts, and senior services across the county. Their shared commitment to giving back is rooted in family stories of compassion—Susan’s father, a doctor who treated patients regardless of ability to pay, and Dennis’ grandfather, a Larkspur shopkeeper who helped neighbors through the Depression.
Their dedication to community health includes significant support for Marin Community Clinics, where they have championed access to high-quality, affordable care and were honored as Community Health Champions in 2024. Their generosity also extends to youth and housing initiatives, including a signature gift that helped launch Homeward Bound of Marin’s Gilardi Training and Events Center.
Guided by a belief that strong communities are built through service, the Gilardis continue to uplift Marin through their leadership, philanthropy, and enduring commitment to helping others thrive.
Vickie Soulier Healthy Aging
Champion Award
Erika Vaughn
Erika Vaughn is a compassionate leader whose work reflects a deep commitment to caring for others. As Vivalon’s Nutrition Manager, she oversees the Meals on Wheels and Vivalon Nourish programs, ensuring that homebound older adults receive nutritious meals, safety checks, and genuine human connection each day.
Inspired by the care her grandmother received from Vivalon in 2013, Erika began as a delivery driver and quickly advanced into her leadership role. Her hands-on approach, empathy, and responsiveness—even delivering essential supplies to clients in urgent need—have earned her the admiration of colleagues and supporters alike.
Erika’s lifelong commitment to service began long before Vivalon. She spent more than 17 years at Women Helping All People (WHAP), a nonprofit that her mother founded in Marin City, where she helped families access education, job training, and basic necessities. Among her most memorable work was leading relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina evacuees who were resettled in Marin City.
