For over 50 years, Vivalon has helped older adults and individuals with mobility challenges get where they need to go—safely, affordably, and with dignity. Today, our commitment to health and independence continues with Vivalon Rides for Health, a comprehensive transportation program that connects people to critical services, social opportunities, and everyday errands across Marin and the Bay Area.
And now, we’re excited to announce a new offering that expands that access even further: Vivalon’s accessible Community Ride Program is now open to the public.
What is Vivalon Rides for Health?
Vivalon Rides for Health brings together a range of ride services designed to support wellness, independence, and peace of mind for individuals who can’t drive or easily use public transportation. Services include:
- Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT & NMT) for Medi-Cal members through Partnership HealthPlan of California
- Assisted Rides—free, local rides for San Rafael residents traveling to or within the city for medical appointments
- CarePool Volunteer Rides for ambulatory Marin residents age 65+, providing free transportation to medical appointments, vaccine sites, and grocery stores
- And now: Our new Accessible Community Rides Program available to the general public
These programs work together to make health-related transportation more accessible and inclusive for people of all ages and abilities.
Accessible Community Rides for All
We know residents needed a reliable, flexible ride option even if they didn’t qualify for existing programs. That’s why we’ve launched our new community ride service, designed for individuals of any age who need accessible, personalized transportation within Marin or to nearby areas.
Whether you’re heading to:
- A medical appointment
- A physical therapy session
- The grocery store
- Vivalon’s Healthy Aging Campus
- A friend’s house or social gathering
…we’re here to get you there.
Features of the program:
- Open to everyone, regardless of age or insurance status, age, or mobility

This new service fills a vital gap for people who are ineligible for other ride programs but still need accessible transportation they can count on.
